Empowering Supported Interns Through Digital Accessibility

Why Digital Accessibility Training Matters for Supported Internships

Digital skills are no longer a ‘nice to have’ – they’re essential for employability, independence and inclusion. For Supported Interns – young people with additional needs and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) – the right digital tools can transform how they navigate work and life.

At sendme2work, we’re on a mission to equip Supported Interns with inclusive digital skills that help them thrive in today’s tech-driven world.

Why Digital Accessibility Training Is Essential

Many Supported Internship providers focus on workplace experience and soft skills – both vital. But what about accessibility within the digital tools interns are expected to use?

Think about Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, or even Canva and social media platforms. If interns aren’t shown how to make these tools work for them, they’re at risk of exclusion – especially those with visual, cognitive, literacy, or neurodiverse needs.

That’s where Digital Accessibility Training comes in.

About the Training: Practical, Inclusive and Built for SEND Learners

We offer a 4-part live training series designed specifically for Supported Interns and those who support them, including job coaches, SEND programme leads and EHCP coordinators.

Delivered virtually via Teams or Zoom, each 90-minute session is interactive, confidence-building and grounded in real-life digital use.
